Protect your energy.

Protect your energy. When we grow tired, lonely or angry, our thoughts often darken. We stop appreciating life’s many blessings. We stop feeling grateful. So it’s vitally important, and not at all selfish, to protect our energy. The key first step in preserving our energy is making decisions based on an internal locus of control. Refuse to let other people pressure you. If you are weary, it’s ok to cancel plans and commitments you made when you were feeling better. It’s ok to not answer your phone or reply right away to a text. It’s ok to sometimes need to be alone. It’s ok to go to bed early. It’s ok to change your mind. It’s ok if you are too exhausted to share yourself with others.

Just a random one

Don’t let anyone guilt trip you into disregarding your natural rhythms to please them. We are particularly vulnerable when we are tired and lonely. When we disregard our body’s signals, we are volunteering to get sick. Protect your energy and rest. We do not owe anybody an explanation. You don’t have to justify your need for rest and you don’t have to blame anyone. You do have to protect your energy and get the rest that you need to feel better.
